Job description

Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Director, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs on building equipment and property structures, in addition to performing grounds maintenance. All work will be done in compliance with EPA, Hazmat and OSHA safety rules and regulations.

Reports to: Maintenance Director/ Executive Director

Essential Functions and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents.
  • Ability to understand the needs of the residents.
  • Ability to paint proficiently and quickly.
  • Ability to multitask and/ or ability to change direction of work quickly when needed.
  • Ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, such as early morning, evenings, weekends, holidays, and ability to assist in emergency situations.
  • Ability to understand facility’s fire and disaster plans; follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.
  • Evaluate emergencies and determine actions per guidelines and policies.
  • Ensure that building is in compliance with local building and safety codes.
  • Foster teamwork with co-workers, take actions which assist others beyond job responsibilities, treat others with respect, and have a positive impact on co-workers, residents, and visitors.
  • Implement preventative maintenance measures
  • Knowledge of basic electrical repairs.
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing repairs.
  • Knowledge of basic HVA (heating, ventilation, A/C) repairs.
  • Knowledge of rekeying.
  • Knowledge of security, fire, and other operational systems
  • Knowledge of common community corrections including but not limited to leaks, furniture repair, technological issues.
  • Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
