Job description


Position Summary:
The Facility Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of the Fall River branch. This includes routine maintenance, minor repairs, inspections, and assisting with facility setups to ensure all spaces remain functional, clean, and safe for daily operations and programs.
Key Responsibilities 
  • Perform daily and routine maintenance tasks throughout the facility 
  • Complete minor repairs and preventative maintenance 
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of fitness areas, locker rooms, program spaces, and common areas 
  • Conduct routine facility inspections and report maintenance needs 
  • Set up and break down rooms, furniture, and equipment for programs and events 
  • Assist with exterior upkeep, including seasonal tasks such as snow removal 
  • Support compliance with YMCA health and safety standards 
Qualifications 
  • Prior experience in general facility maintenance preferred 
  • Trade skills (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC) are a plus 
  • Ability to work weekends and occasional evenings as needed 
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
Physical Requirements 
The role requires the ability to: 
  • Climb stairs and ladders 
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and reach frequently 
  • Stand and walk for extended periods 
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 
  • Perform repetitive manual tasks 
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions 
Schedule & Compensation
