Job description

JOB TITLE:                          Maintenance Assistant


 

SUMMARY

This position reports directly to the Maintenance manager.  The position will be responsible for Maintenance support for all Manufacturing department.    Perform a wide variety of Machinist and Maintenance duties on the installation, maintenance and repair of plant machinery and equipment required to maintain production equipment in efficient working condition. 

 Maintenance Machinist position:

  Work from blueprints, sketches, manuals, and verbal instruction.

 Troubleshoot and resolve all plant and production machinery/equipment.

  Set-up and operate standard machine shop tools as needed to produce replacement parts and new parts, as required. 

  Perform all preventive maintenance duties as scheduled.

  Present solutions and alternatives to problems. 

  Assist with design and installation of machinery.

  Some Machining experience would be helpful, but not required.

  Assist Maintenance Manager, as needed, or assigned.

  Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently. 

  

SKILL REQUIRED

  • Must have 2-5 years of Maintenance Machinist experience.

 

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Responsible for keeping the work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
  • Occasional physical exertion required to lift up to 40-50 lbs.
  • Lifting and/or sliding parts weighing approx. 60 lbs, with lift truck assistance.
  • Detailed hand work to creating and assembling die parts.
  • Running drill press, manual lathe, as production requires.
  • Use of hand tools (i.e., hammers, wrenches, calipers, etc.)
  • Work performed in the Machine Shop area and throughout Building.
  • Ability to read and write, good verbal and written skills.
