Job Description:
Maintenance Assistant
Maintains and repairs the facility's physical plant and its various systems including plumbing, electrical, structural and equipment as well as maintaining grounds. Safely operates equipment, power and hand tools. The Maintenance Assistant advises appropriate facility personnel of any potential shut-downs to enable the staff to provide alternate plans for the continuation of operations. Plans efficient use of time, cooperates with all other staff and performs responsibilities with a minimum disruption to the facility. The Maintenance Assistant Inspects facility and reports to Maintenance Supervisor any needed repairs
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility preferred.
  • Ability to perform, and working knowledge of, routine plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry and grounds keeping tasks including painting, wallpapering, and shoveling snow.
  • Valid drivers' license and safe driving record.
  • The Maintenance Assistant demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks.
