Job description

Job Summary: The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of Ozark Regional Transit facilities, grounds, bus shelters, and equipment. This position performs routine maintenance, minor repairs, custodial duties, landscaping, mowing, and trash removal. The technician also ensures passenger waiting areas and bus shelters are clean, safe, and welcoming for riders. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, and capable of performing a variety of hands-on maintenance and upkeep tasks.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Building Maintenance & Repairs
    • Perform minor repairs to facilities, fixtures, and equipment.
    • Assist with preventive maintenance tasks as assigned by leadership.
  2. Custodial & Cleaning Duties
    • Clean ORT facilities, including offices, restrooms, and common areas.
    • Maintain cleanliness of bus shelters, ensuring they are free of litter, dirt, and debris.
    • Collect and properly dispose of trash from facilities, shelters, and grounds.
  3. Groundskeeping & Landscaping
    • Mow, trim, and maintain lawns and landscaped areas.
    • Remove weeds, leaves, and debris from sidewalks, parking lots, and grounds.
    • Perform seasonal upkeep such as snow/ice removal, salting walkways, or planting/landscape care.
  4. Bus Shelter & Passenger Area Upkeep
    • Wash, disinfect, and maintain passenger shelters and waiting areas.
    • Ensure shelters are safe, clean, and presentable for public use.
  5. Safety & Compliance
    • Follow all safety procedures while operating tools, equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
    • Report facility or equipment hazards and assist in correcting unsafe conditions.
    • Attend meetings and trainings as required.
  6. Support of Daily Operations
    • Assist maintenance staff with facility projects or special tasks.
    • Respond to requests for custodial, grounds, or minor repair support as needed.
  7. Communication
    • Communicate facility needs, supply shortages, or repair issues to supervisors in a timely manner.
