Maintenance Apprentice

Onsite | Full-Time

We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Maintenance Apprentice to join our food manufacturing facility. This entry-level role is designed for individuals eager to build skills in mechanical and electrical maintenance, as well as troubleshooting equipment in a fast-paced production environment.

You will work alongside experienced maintenance technicians to help ensure machinery runs safely, efficiently, and in compliance with food safety standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in performing routine maintenance and repairs on production equipment, packaging lines, conveyors, and facility systems.
  • Learn to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and basic PLC issues under the guidance of senior maintenance staff.
  • Support preventative maintenance programs to reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and parts usage.
  • Adhere to all safety, hygiene, and food quality standards set by the company and regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in training sessions, workshops, and on-the-job learning to build technical knowledge and skills.
  • Assist with installations, equipment overhauls, and upgrades as needed.
  • Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Education: High School Diploma and or trade related training.
  • Strong interest in maintenance, engineering, or manufacturing operations.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn about tools, equipment, and systems.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively, and communicate effectively.
  • Must be reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work in a physically demanding environment (standing, lifting, climbing). Ability to independently manage daily work assignments and ensure follow-up to completion.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with multiple operational systems such as HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Pneumatics, Compressors, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This job operates both in an office setting and production facility environment. The production environment may be cold, wet, and/or warm.
  • The position at times requires the use of ladders, perform work on the roof of the building, operate a man lift and/or forklift.
  • Use of standard PPE (hairnets, safety glasses and beard nets, masks and shields).
