POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mainline Trackhoe Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a CAT excavator to install storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively, skillfully, safely, and accurately operates varies heavy construction equipment
  • Completes proper equipment inspections prior to use to ensure that it is in proper operating condition
  • Meet precise standards to excavate line and grade for mainline waterline
  • Excavates around existing utilities, to install Mainline and backfill piping
  • Must have knowledge of pothole procedure, pipeline and grade compaction requirements
  • Inspecting equipment for deficiencies, such as tires, lights, brakes, fuses and fluid levels, and submits report indicating equipment condition.
  • Ensure trench is excavated to the proper depth/grade
  • Be aware of proper rigging of pipe, manhole barrels, etc. and ensure safe work procedures are followed during the lowering of materials into the excavation.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations
  • Knowledgeable in Blue Stake markings, shoring procedures, sloping, and benching procedures
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings and specifications
  • Meet production goals from the direction of the site Foreman or Superintendent
  • Signals directions and warnings to crew members at the work site
  • Works with crew members when not operating equipment
  • Adheres to all DCS Contracting safety policies, procedures, and instructions from management
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years' experience operating heavy construction equipment required or equivalent combination of experience and training/education
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA standards and requirements
  • Able to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Willingness to learn and accept direction from field supervision
  • Must be a team player and be willing to help out wherever is needed for the success of the project
  • Safety first mindset, MUST stop work if something is unsafe
  • Reliable transportation and work schedule flexibility
  • Ability to get the job done with minimal supervision

This is a Safety Sensitive position.

Must be willing and able to drive within a 60+ mile radius from DCS's office to and from assigned job site.
