Job description

Role Description: Mainframe Architect
Experience in application development in legacy technologies like COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM, Easytrieve, IDEALDatacom, RPG, ASM, MQ (at least some of the technologies, if not all)
Assessment & Strategy
o Conduct discovery and assessment of existing mainframe workloads (COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, IMS, CICS).
o Define modernization strategies: Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Retire, Replace.
o Develop migration roadmaps, risk mitigation, and rollback plans.
Architecture & Design
o Design target-state architecture for rehosted applications on cloud or distributed platforms.
o Ensure compliance with security, performance, high availability, and disaster recovery requirements.
o Create detailed blueprints for migration patterns and integration with modern systems.
Data Migration
o Design ETL processes for migrating mainframe data Datacom to SQL Server.
o Ensure data integrity and minimal downtime during migration.
Leadership & Collaboration
o Act as SME for modernization initiatives.
o Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams.
o Communicate architecture and strategy to stakeholders and executives.
Key responsibilities:
Experience in application development in legacy technologies like COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM, Easytrieve, IDEALDatacom, RPG, ASM, MQ (at least some of the technologies, if not all)
Participate in code migration and data transformation efforts as part of rehosting
Collaborate with architects and cloud teams to support GCP-based modernization
