Job description

Role: Mainframe Applications Developer

Location: Montgomery, Alabama

Duration: Full time


Position Description

  • Lead the design, development, testing, and implementation of Mainframe (COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL) applications.
  • Having experience with TELON (COBOL Code generator) plus point.
  • Experience in developing Mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL and TELON.
  • Write Adhoc queries/SPUFI’s using DB2 SQL statements.
  • Maintain the existing applications/interface files and make the changes as per the user needs.
  • Must be able to work in a software development environment following SDLC of waterfall and Agile/scrum methodologies.
  • Meet with users, gather and analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design.
  • Conduct unit testing and assist with integration testing.
  • Provides development status updates to the management on a regular basis.
  • Provides guidance on best practices for software development and ensures adherence to organization’s IT policies.
  • Responsible for writing stored procedures, Views, Functions, Triggers, DDL/DML queries.
  • Child Support Application experience is preferred.
  • Attend Production On-call

Must have Skills Required

  • COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, TSO
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure and self-motivated

Skills Preferred

  • Experience in working with  Financial Mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL,  and TSO
  • Experience using COBOL code generators such as TELON 
  • Child Support Application development and conversion experience is preferred.

Work Experience Required

•             Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in Mainframe applications

•             High School diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years of experience in Mainframe applications.

Experience Preferred

  • Minimum of 8 – 10 years of Mainframe experience using COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL,TSO
  • Experience in designing, developing and supporting complex mainframe applications.
