Job description

Job Overview:

Pay Range: $62.00hr - $67.00hr

Requirement/Must Have:

  • 12+ years of professional work experience as a Mainframe System Programmer in zOS & ISVs.
  • Expertise in performing SMP/E and Non-SMPE Installation of ISV products.
  • Expertise in IBM and Broadcom Software product Install and Upgrades.
  • Mastery of z/OS system commands, utilities, and automation tools.
  • Experience with operating system z/OS V2.5 upgrades or later with z/OSMF workflow execution.
  • IODF and HCD skillset to add new devices.
  • Fluent in JCL and IBM Utilities including IEBGENER, IEBCOPY, AMASPZAP, and DFDSS.
  • Proficiency in ISPF/TSO and other basic mainframe tools.
  • Basic knowledge of REXX/CLIST.
  • Ability to design project plans for upgrades, maintenance, and decommissioning with task lists for all stakeholders.
  • Ability to formulate roadmaps with all pre-requisites to achieve project completion.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform standard system programming activities like configuration, installation, and maintenance using SMP/E, and vendor software installations in the mainframe environment.
  • Perform Operating System upgrade and RSU maintenance via z/OSMF Workflow.
  • Execute z/OS version upgrades (2.x, 3.x) and ISV upgrades.
  • Architect, install, and configure highly complex z/OS environments and third-party software.
  • Support Software Standardization and new Feature implementations.
  • Support other teams regarding storage management, performance tuning, capacity planning, security, networking, and operating procedures from a zOS perspective.
  • Work with Mainframe System Programmers staff across tracks to enhance the mainframe environment.
  • Assist team members to solve problems, make innovative improvements, and make decisions.
  • Identify and implement system and process improvements in the z/OS environment.
  • Work with application support teams and other internal customers to facilitate business initiatives.
  • Communicate timelines effectively with delivery teams and stakeholders.
