Imagine starting your day bringing a new run of printed circuit boards to life. You power up automated test equipment, validate fixtures, and run first-article tests. Mid-morning, you’re deep into measurements with calipers, micrometers, and an ohmmeter, confirming that what’s on the bench matches what’s on the drawing. After lunch, you’re reviewing AOI images and doing a careful visual sweep to catch anything IPC 610 wouldn’t allow—solder bridges, tombstones, lifted leads. By late afternoon, your analysis turns into clear, data-backed quality reports and a quick sync with engineering to tighten a process and prevent a recurring defect from coming back tomorrow.

What you’ll tackle
  • Run comprehensive functional tests on PCB assemblies and finished units using automated test equipment and manual bench methods.
  • Use precision tools—calipers, micrometers, and ohmmeters—to capture accurate measurements and log reliable data.
  • Inspect SMT assemblies and solder joints for mechanical integrity in alignment with IPC 610 standards.
  • Leverage AOI systems and meticulous visual inspection to spot defects and deviations from specification.
  • Read and interpret schematics, drawings, and test procedures to debug failures and uphold quality control protocols.
  • Record test outcomes with rigor, analyze trends, and produce detailed quality documentation.
  • Flag process inefficiencies and recurring issues, collaborating with engineering on corrective actions and continuous improvement.
What you bring
  • Solid understanding of SMT assembly processes and quality benchmarks such as IPC 610.
  • Hands-on proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, ohmmeters) and confidence working from schematics; skilled with soldering irons and standard hand tools.
  • Experience executing PCB test procedures with automated test systems and automated optical inspection (AOI).
