Job description

Position Summary...Walmart Global Tech is seeking a Senior DevOps Systems & Infrastructure Engineer within Information Security, specializing in Identity Governance & Administration (IGA) with a deep focus on the SailPoint IdentityIQ (IIQ) platform.
This role sits at the intersection of security engineering, platform reliability, automation, and enterprise identity governance. You will design, operate, and evolve one of the largest and most complex IAM environments in the world—supporting hundreds of thousands of identities, thousands of applications, and multiple identity sources across corporate, retail, supply chain, cloud, and legacy platforms.
This is a hands on senior engineering role, not an advisory or purely architectural position. You are expected to operate independently, own production outcomes, and deliver scalable, resilient, and auditable identity controls at Walmart scale. What you'll do...SailPoint IdentityIQ Platform Engineering
  • Design, build, operate, and continuously improve SailPoint IdentityIQ as a mission‑critical enterprise platform
  • Implement and support:
    • Joiner / Mover / Leaver lifecycle workflows
    • Access request and fulfillment pipelines
    • User Access Reviews (certifications)
    • Role models, entitlement governance, and policy enforcement
    • Segregation of Duties (SoD) controls and risk scoring
  • Lead and execute SailPoint IIQ upgrades, patching, and platform hardening, ensuring zero or minimal business disruption

Enterprise Integration & Automation
  • Engineer and maintain large‑scale integrations between SailPoint IIQ and:
    • Active Directory / Entra ID (Azure AD)
    • Workday and HR‑driven identity sources
    • Mainframe (RACF)
    • Cloud platforms and enterprise applications
    • Custom and internally‑built authorization systems
  • Build custom connectors, rules, workflows, and APIs to enable scalable identity governance where out‑of‑the‑box solutions are insufficient
  • Automate identity operations using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps pipelines to reduce manual effort and operational risk

DevOps, Reliability & Operations
  • Apply DevOps and SRE principles to identity infrastructure:
    • High availability, resiliency, and disaster recovery
    • Monitoring, alerting, and operational health checks
    • Incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
  • Treat identity platforms as production‑grade services, with strong SLIs/SLOs and operational discipline
  • Partner closely with platform owners, application teams, and security stakeholders to ensure identity services scale safely and reliably

Security, Compliance & Risk
  • Ensure SailPoint IIQ implementations meet SOX, audit, and regulatory requirements, providing demonstrable, auditable controls at enterprise scale
  • Reduce risk by moving decentralized and local access controls into centralized governance
  • Support security initiatives that directly impact Walmart’s global risk posture, audit outcomes, and regulatory compliance
What You Bring
Required (Non‑Negotiable)
  • Senior‑level, hands‑on experience with SailPoint IdentityIQ in a large, complex enterprise environment
  • Deep understanding of Identity Governance & Administration (IGA) concepts and implementations
  • Strong systems engineering background across:
    • Linux / Windows
    • Application infrastructure
    • Directory services
    • Cloud platforms
  • Proven experience with:
    • Java‑based enterprise platforms
    • APIs, web services, and custom integrations
    • Automation and scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash)
  • Experience operating mission‑critical security platforms with high availability and strict audit requirements
  • Ability to work independently, own outcomes, and deliver without extensive ramp‑up or hand‑holding

Preferred
  • Experience supporting IAM at retail, Fortune‑scale, or global enterprise environments
  • Familiarity with:
    • RACF / mainframe identity governance
    • SAP GRC, privileged access, or PAM integrations
    • Cloud IAM and hybrid identity architectures
  • Experience applying DevOps practices to security platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and executive audiences

Why This Role Matters
SailPoint IdentityIQ is a foundational security platform at Walmart, underpinning:
  • Enterprise access governance
  • Audit and compliance outcomes
  • Risk reduction across thousands of systems
  • Secure enablement of business‑led IT and cloud transformation

This role directly impacts Walmart’s ability to scale securely, meet regulatory expectations, and protect associates, customers, and data globally. Who Thrives Here
  • Engineers who enjoy complex, high‑impact systems
  • Builders who prefer automation over manual processes
  • Security professionals who understand that identity is the control plane
  • Operators who are comfortable owning production platforms at massive scale
