Mainframe Automation / NetView Engineer

Duration: 12 Months 
Work Location: Phoenix, AZ / Charlotte, NC / Plano, TX
Work Arrangement: Hybrid — Onsite 3 Days per Week
Relocation: Candidates willing to relocate to one of the listed locations may be considered.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Automation / NetView Engineer to support enterprise IBM z/OS environments through advanced automation, monitoring, and operational resiliency solutions.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience administering IBM NetView for z/OS, developing automation using REXX and CLIST, implementing message-driven automation, and supporting critical infrastructure monitoring and recovery processes.

Key Responsibilities NetView Administration & Support
  • Administer and maintain IBM NetView for z/OS environments.
  • Configure and support NetView automation infrastructure.
  • Monitor NetView performance, availability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Manage NetView definitions, policies, and operational controls.
  • Troubleshoot NetView-related issues and support production environments.
Automation Development
  • Design and develop automation solutions using:
    • REXX
    • CLIST
    • NetView Command Lists (CMDLISTs)
  • Develop automated recovery procedures and operational workflows.
  • Create reusable automation frameworks to improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop solutions that reduce manual operator intervention.
Event & Message Automation
  • Implement and maintain event-driven automation solutions.
  • Develop message automation and automated notification processes.
  • Configure and maintain Automation Tables (AUTOTBL).
  • Design message-processing rules to identify, classify, and respond to system events.
  • Develop automated escalation and recovery procedures.
Monitoring & Incident Management
  • Implement proactive monitoring and alerting solutions.
  • Support enterprise event correlation and alert management.
  • Participate in production support and incident resolution.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and automation issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term resiliency improvements.
  • Develop automation to improve operational response and system availability.
Infrastructure Integration
  • Integrate NetView automation with:
    • z/OS Communications Server
    • VTAM
    • TCP/IP
    • OMEGAMON
    • Enterprise monitoring platforms
  • Support automation across Sysplex environments.
  • Collaborate with operations, network, security, and systems programming teams.
  • Support highly available enterprise mainframe infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience with IBM z/OS.
  • 5+ years of hands-on IBM NetView administration and automation experience.
  • Strong development experience with REXX, CLIST, and NetView automation.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing event-driven operational automation.
  • Experience supporting highly available enterprise mainframe environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience developing automated recovery and operational resiliency solutions.
