Our Information Technology team is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Mainframe Engineer to join our growing organization. This position is based in our Worcester, MA headquarters or may be performed through a remote work arrangement.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced infrastructure professional with deep expertise in enterprise mainframe technologies. In this role, you will leverage your engineering knowledge to research, design, implement, optimize, and support critical mainframe infrastructure and platform services.

You will serve as a technical leader responsible for maintaining and advancing key mainframe technologies while collaborating with internal stakeholders, business partners, and vendors. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure the reliability, scalability, performance, and security of our mainframe environment.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Be responsible for the overall management and administration ofMainframe CICS for z/OS and MQ for z/OS subsystemsacross a multiple SYSPLEX and CEC environments. 
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to outsourced service providers and internal team members, ensuring service delivery aligns with contractual obligations, SLAs, and KPIs.
  • Evaluate, prototype, and implement emerging mainframe technologies, capabilities, and operational strategies.
  • Develop and maintain mainframe roadmaps, standards, processes, and best practices that improve performance, resiliency, availability, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Establish and execute strategies for CICS, Db2, and MQ environments that align with business and technology objectives.
  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders to incorporate growth forecasts and business requirements into infrastructure and capacity planning.
  • Lead systems analysis, architecture, integration, enhancement, and deployment efforts for enterprise mainframe initiatives.
  • Evaluate hardware, software, tools, and implementation approaches to deliver cost-effective solutions that meet business needs.
  • Create, maintain, and govern technical documentation and engineering specifications throughout the solution lifecycle.
  • Provide thought leadership on current and emerging mainframe technologies, industry trends, and operational practices.
  • Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements, hardware and software lifecycle management requirements, and technology portfolio roadmaps.
  • Analyze incident, problem, and change management data to identify trends, drive root-cause resolution, and improve service quality.
  • Lead and support audit, compliance, and risk management activities related to the mainframe platform.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery, business continuity, and resiliency planning initiatives.

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Proven experience supporting IBM Mainframe hardware platforms, including z15 and z16 systems.
  • Experience with enterprise storage and backup technologies, including IBM DS8910 Storage Systems and TS7770/TS7780 Virtual Tape Systems.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (i.e Lawful Permanent Residence or US Citizen)
  • Familiarity with distributed technology integration, including Tomcat and related middleware platforms.
  • Experience with systems architecture, platform design, and enterprise infrastructure modernization initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence outcomes across teams.
