Pizza Wholesale of Lexington, Inc. (PWL), established in 1976 and a founding distributor of Hunt Brothers® Pizza (www.pwlhbp.com), is a privately held, family owned and operated direct store distribution business.  Pizza Wholesale of Lexington, Inc. develops Hunt Brothers® Pizza across 21 states through our 4200 Valued Customer Partners and growing. Our purpose is to “create opportunities for families through love and pizza" through 250 team members, customer development and community outreach. With more than 10,000 locations in 31 states, Hunt Brothers® Pizza is the nation's largest brand of made-to-order pizza in the convenience store industry.  

The Area Assistant or Route Delivery Driver will build solid, positive working relationships with customers and is highly motivated to exceed their expectations and requirements. PWL operates in a very competitive environment and successful Account Managers must be able to balance exceptional customer service with meeting and exceeding individual sales growth goals. As Trusted Advisors for the organization, Area Assistants strive to generate goodwill and loyalty for the organization while performing their work in a professional manner at all times. 

Responsibilities and Duties:     

  • Safely operates a company truck in designated area to provide products and service to a variety of customers. Verifies daily preventative maintenance of vehicle and maintains proper operator documentation.
  • Works within HOS and reports challenges to finishing the assigned route within HOS.
  • Loads/unloads product per company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Reviews invoices daily for complete and accurate information and makes corrections as needed.
  • Verifies beginning and ending truck inventory on a daily basis per beginning and end of day procedures.
  • Understands services, policies, and pricing methods and clearly explains the same to the customer.
  • Take responsibility for your personal safety and watch out for the safety of others. Use safe precautions, proper tools, and equipment, and adhere to all safe work practices and policies.
  • Training store employees as required (This includes but is not limited to making pizzas, cleaning equipment such as ovens and ensuring prep tables are properly stocked.)   
  • Cleaning up before you leave a store (not leaving tracks with the two-wheeler during rainy weather, breaking down all pizza boxes etc.).                                                        
  • Ensuring that the overall appearance of each pizza shoppe meets the standards of Hunt Brothers® Pizza.  This includes a pizza shoppe that is free and clear from other store merchandise, refreshing marketing material and ensuring the bulbs and displays are operational.
  • In the event the Hunt Brothers® Pizza Shoppe fails to meet our standards and guidelines, follow proper procedures for working with store owners in an effort to gain compliance.                        
  • With guidance from the District Manager, service customer locations in the absence of an Account Manager and/or the District Manager.
  • Travel to other Districts to assist with running routes.
  • Providing service to customer locations during holiday periods if needed.            
  • Checking voice mail during business hours.  Checking Hunt Brothers® email on a daily basis.      
  • Attending Hunt Brothers® Pizza Training School and other professional development courses as requested or required.                                                                                              
  • Assisting in keeping warehouse clean and organized.                             
  • Making daily bank deposits for all monies collected according to policy and procedures.              
  • Completing all necessary paperwork required in the timeframe established and sending to the appropriate departments accordingly. This includes all handheld operations and procedures.
  • Freshening promotional material as needed or as obsolescence occurs.
  • Defrost and clean truck as necessary.
  • Attend company meetings as required.
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Typical Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must maintain a high level of professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays

Minimum Requirements:   

  • Legal Age: 21 years old
  • Education or Equivalent Experience: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Function Specific Experience: None
  • Certification/License Requirements:
    • Valid Driver’s License with safe driving record
    • Must be able to obtain D.O.T card with one-year certification
    • Must obtain/maintain Class B CDL within first six months of employment
  • Travel: Up to 20%

This is a position that requires "knock your socks off" service as well as the ability to travel between the districts and interact with our customers in the Convenience store Industry. Overnight travel is required with this position.
