Job description

Job Title:Mail Center Clerk โ€“ Part-time

Job Purpose: Provide efficient mail handling, customer service, and support for Mail Center operations, ensuring compliance with USPS regulations and organizational policies.

Reports to:Mail Center Lead

Salary Range

$19 - $20/hour

Type of Position:

Part-time, Non-exempt

Hours
  • Up to 30 hours per week
  • Additional hours during peak season
  • Must be available for flexible scheduling including late afternoons & weekends.
  • General Description
  • Collect mail from the administrative office daily.
  • Operate the Customer Service Window: assist members, process outgoing mail, incoming packages, and sell stamps following designated procedures.
  • Manage mailbox assignments by documented procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with USPS Form 1583 requirements by maintaining updated documentation.
  • Process incoming packages (UPS, FedEx, DHL) and handle mail forwarding.
  • Meter outgoing mail and packages independently at the Admin Office.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in a fastpaced environment and resolve conflicts tactfully.
  • Learn and apply USPS Domestic Mail Manual (DMM) policies; train staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Utilize computer systems; proficiency in Microsoft Teams required for interdepartmental communication.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and attend monthly safety meetings as required.
  • Previous mail/shipping experience preferred.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • 18 years or older with a valid Washington State driverโ€™s license.
  • Ability to pass a background check and maintain reliable phone contact.
  • Knowledge of postal regulations and ability to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to handle stressful situations professionally.
  • Adaptability to new policies and procedures.
  • Physical ability to lift to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • A professional appearance and a positive attitude are required.
