Content Platform & Digital Delivery Manager

Plantation, FL โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Job description

Summary/Objective:
Virgin Voyages is redefining the future of travel-bold, effortless, and unmistakably Virgin. The Manager, Content Platform & Digital Delivery is a single role that intentionally combines three distinct functions: Product Owner, Scrum Master, and Content Management Lead. This is not a role where those responsibilities are split across a team-this individual owns all three, end to end, and is accountable for the full lifecycle of the content platform and everything it produces.
As Product Owner, you define the vision and roadmap for the content platform-deciding what gets built, in what order, and why. As Scrum Master, you lead the CMS development team through agile delivery, removing blockers and keeping execution tight. As Content Management Lead, you are the ultimate authority on all content-related asks across the organization-whether they are business-driven (editorial, campaign, SEO, personalization) or technically driven (CMS architecture, templates, publishing workflows, integrations)-and you have the platform knowledge to bridge both sides without needing a developer in the room.
This role requires an entrepreneurial mindset. You treat the content management ecosystem as a product to be built, evolved, and held accountable to measurable outcomes. You don't wait to be told what to prioritize-you identify the opportunities, build the case, and drive decisions. Deep Magnolia CMS fluency is essential. Development experience is not required, but you must be able to operate confidently as a business user of the CMS, backfill any non-technical content role when needed, and serve as the go-to authority for every content management question in the organization. This individual is a self-starter who connects content strategy to commercial outcomes and sees every content touchpoint as an opportunity to move a metric.

This gig is based at VVHQ - our swanky Virgin Voyages Head Office in Plantation, FL where we follow a hybrid work environment. We can't wait to 'sea' you in person during our Collaboration Days, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, while you enjoy Mondays and Fridays' as remote days.

Essential Skills and Responsibilities:
Product Ownership & Agile Delivery Leadership

  • Own the CMS content platform as a product-defining its vision, roadmap, and success metrics, and driving the development team to deliver against them with urgency and quality.
  • Serve as the dedicated Scrum Master for the CMS development team-leading all sprint ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Manage and maintain the development team backlog in Jira: write and refine user stories, define acceptance criteria, assign work, track velocity, and ensure the team is sprint-ready at all times.
  • Identify, document, and actively resolve cross-team impediments and blocking issues; escalate risks with clear resolution paths when needed.
  • Lead all PI (Program Increment) planning efforts for the CMS workstream; ensure cross-team dependencies are well-understood, documented, and sequenced appropriately.
  • Translate sprint progress into business-legible updates tied to commercial outcomes-making the invisible work of the development team visible and meaningful to stakeholders.
  • Champion SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) principles across the team; ensure agile ceremonies and processes are followed with discipline and continuously improved.
  • Track and report team velocity, delivery KPIs, and program health metrics; proactively flag risks to scope, timelines, or quality.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, self-organization, and continuous improvement within the development team.

CMS Platform Strategy & Technical Fluency

  • Think like a product owner for the Magnolia CMS platform-not just maintaining it, but actively identifying where it falls short of business needs and driving the roadmap to close those gaps.
  • Maintain deep working knowledge of the platform's architecture, templates, components, content types, workflows, and publishing configuration; serve as the internal authority on CMS capabilities and constraints.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for CMS-related questions from content strategy, publishing, and marketing teams; able to backfill and advise on business user tasks within the CMS as needed (no development experience required).
  • Build and present business cases for CMS investments, platform upgrades, and new integrations-connecting platform capability to content performance and commercial outcomes.
  • Oversee the implementation and quality of CMS enhancements, new templates, and platform upgrades-ensuring all changes meet business requirements before release.
  • Ensure monitoring, tagging, and analytics tools are properly implemented on relevant CMS-managed systems; partner with data teams to validate content performance tracking.

Content Strategy & Publishing Leadership

  • Set the strategic direction for content operations-defining what content needs to exist, where it should live, how it should be structured, and how its performance should be measured across VirginVoyages.com and FirstMates.com.
  • Lead the content publishing team with a bias toward speed and quality-establishing clear priorities, streamlined workflows, and governance standards that keep content aligned with campaign and commercial calendars.
  • Partner with the content strategy team to turn editorial direction into executable publishing plans; ensure content priorities flow through to both the CMS backlog and the publishing queue.
  • Proactively identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the content production and publishing workflow; design and implement process improvements that increase throughput without sacrificing quality.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, CRM, SEO, and Paid Media teams to ensure content is aligned with campaign timelines, performance goals, and audience targeting strategies-and advocate for the content platform's role in driving those outcomes.

Cross-Functional Influence & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Operate as a strategic partner-not just a service provider-to Marketing, IT, Editorial, and Sales; proactively bring content platform insights and recommendations to cross-functional planning conversations.
  • Build and maintain a content platform roadmap that is legible to both technical and business audiences; communicate it consistently and advocate for it with conviction.
  • Partner with the Technology team using PI planning, SAFe, and agile methodologies to manage future CMS requests, platform updates, and integrations.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, compelling presentations on platform roadmap, sprint progress, and content operations performance for cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Support the deployment of new technology and tooling adoption across content and digital teams; develop training materials and onboarding processes as needed.
  • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and development of team members across the CMS and content publishing functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Information Systems, or a related field required; advanced degree a plus.
  • 4+ years of experience in digital product management, agile delivery, or content platform ownership-with a track record of driving outcomes, not just managing process.
  • Hands-on Magnolia CMS experience strongly preferred; proficiency in at least one enterprise CMS platform (Magnolia, Drupal, WordPress, Adobe Experience Manager) required. Must be comfortable navigating CMS workflows, templates, and publishing tools as a business user.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or equivalent experience required; SAFe methodology experience is essential.
  • Proven experience running agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, PI planning) and managing development team backlogs in Jira or equivalent tools.
  • Ability to write clear, well-structured user stories and acceptance criteria that bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution-without requiring development expertise.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset: proactively identifies problems, builds the case for solutions, and drives them to completion without waiting to be directed.
  • Proven ability to connect content platform decisions to business outcomes-understands that the CMS is not just a publishing tool but a commercial asset.
  • Experience leading or coordinating cross-functional teams including developers, content strategists, publishers, and business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams, prioritize effectively under pressure, and maintain delivery quality in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and facilitating discussions across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to identify root causes, define resolution paths, and track outcomes.
  • Experience with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) required; Smartsheet a plus.
  • Understanding of web analytics, tagging requirements, and content performance metrics a plus.
  • Knowledge of SEO principles as they relate to content structure and CMS configuration preferred.
  • Leisure, Travel & Tourism industry experience a plus.
