About us:
Exiger makes the world a safer place to do business. Positioned at the bleeding edge of critical national security and commercial innovation, we offer AI-enabled supply chain risk management technology that empowers our Defense Industrial Base, Automotive, Pharmaceutical, and Commercial customers to build more transparent, resilient, and secure global supply chains while illuminating human rights abuses such as forced labor, human trafficking, and child labor.
About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Engineer to lead our DDIQ team, the group responsible for our core risk signals processing engine - the cornerstone of our platform. By combining data on global companies with signals from worldwide events, our team builds systems that transform massive volumes of raw data into actionable risk insights. These insights help our customers identify and mitigate potential risks in their suppliers and partners, driving smarter and safer business decisions.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll drive the technical direction of our products, build reliable, scalable web applications and services that power our SaaS platform, operate and maintain the system, and mentor other engineers on the team. You will play a key role in engineering the scalability, reliability, quality, performance, and maintainability of our systems.
LOCATION: Mclean, VA / New York, NY / Richmond, VA
STATUS: Hybrid (2 days per week)
What you'll do:
  • Own the technical vision and architecture for DDIQ end-to-end, establishing a clear architectural direction that supports the product's current needs and long-term growth
  • Serve as the most senior technical authority on the team, providing leadership across backend, frontend, data, infrastructure, and system design
  • Effectively manage AI agents to drive delivery across all stages of the SDLC, including design, development, testing, CI/CD, operations at speed and scale
  • Deliver features across multiple services and systems, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-quality releases
  • Oversee architecture and design decisions, helping the team make tradeoffs between performance, scalability, and time-to-market
  • Ensure reliability and observability across our microservices ecosystem, including production monitoring, alerting, and recovery
  • Ensure operational excellence, managing the CI/CD lifecycle, testing, deployments, and cost optimizations

What you bring to the team:
  • Unyielding sense of ownership and accountability - you care about your work and it shows
  • 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with significant experience designing, building, and operating complex backend systems or data-intensive applications
  • Demonstrated experience as a technical lead or senior engineer responsible for the architecture, technical direction, and health of a scaled enterprise application with mission-critical customer impact
  • Strong system design instincts and the ability to reason across application, data, infrastructure, reliability, and operational concerns
  • Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures, Kubernetes, and IAC
  • Experience with mission-critical, API-first SaaS systems, balancing short-term delivery with long-term architectural vision
  • Passion for data, analytics, and using technology to uncover meaningful insights
  • Experience working at a rapidly-evolving, PE-backed, growth startup
  • Bonus points for experience operating in an air-gapped FedRAMP or DoD I/L environment

Our tech stack:
  • Core Platform: Java / Spring Boot
