Job description

An IC Design Engineer is needed by the Microcircuit Emulation Center at SRI International (formerly Sarnoff Corporation) in Princeton, NJ to support the manufacturing of microcircuits (integrated circuits). Through SRI's Generalized Emulation of Microcircuits (GEM) program, the Microcircuit Emulation Center (MEC) supplies form, fit, function, and interface replacements for obsolete microcircuits. This capability supports production, redesign, and sustainment requirements for the life of a weapon system. SRI’s Microcircuit Emulation Center is a government-supported, U.S.-based Trusted foundry. This position is 100% on site; relocation benefits are not available.


  • Design, simulation and verification of analog circuits
  • Review specifications and requirements to determine appropriate design to emulate the original part
  • Design and verification of analog circuits, including OpAmps, Comparators and Regulators
  • Support layout engineers with the layout of macro cells and ensure correct post-layout functionality
  • Work with test engineers to develop characterization and qualification tests

  • BS Electrical Engineering with 5+ years designing analog or mixed signal circuits;
    • OR Masters EE with thesis and 2 years designing analog or mixed signal circuits
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required
  • Must be able to work on site at SRI office in Princeton, NJ
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Desired experience:

  • Breadth of analog design knowledge is essential as part designs cover a wide range of product types
  • Designing with (5V to 40V) Bipolar, BiCMOS, and CMOS processes
  • Designing Amplifiers, Comparators, and/or Regulators
  • Performing design verification
  • Interfacing with layout, test, and process engineers
  • Demonstrated analytical and systematic teamwork approach to troubleshooting

Ideal experience:

  • Switch capacitor, Phased locked loop (PLL) and/or Pulse width modulation (PWM) controller design experience
  • Knowledge of HDL (Verilog or VHDL) design & synthesis
  • Scripting languages such as Perl, Python or TCL

The salary range is: $92,160-$122,112. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
