Job Title: Machine Operator – Stone Fabrication (Swing Shift)

Job Description

This role operates in a fast-paced stone fabrication environment, where you will accurately measure, cut, and finish granite, quartz, and other countertop materials using a variety of machines and hand tools. You will support CNC-based production, ensure products meet precise specifications, and contribute to a smooth and efficient workflow on the swing shift.

Responsibilities

• Accurately measure and cut granite and other stone materials to job specifications using a tape measure and shop diagrams.
• Operate and feed polishing and beveling machines to produce high-quality finishes on countertops and related parts.
• Cut granite to length after processing, ensuring precision and adherence to design and quality standards.
• Manage the proper flow of tops and workpieces through the production line to maintain the production schedule.
• Select and utilize appropriate tooling for CNC-based machinery to achieve optimal performance and finish quality.
• Participate in preventative maintenance activities for CNC equipment to maintain reliability and reduce downtime.
• Maximize production efficiency by minimizing remakes, rework, and material waste.
• Assist in process development and continuous improvement efforts related to CNC routers and fabrication processes.
• Adjust and dress CNC tooling as needed to maintain cutting performance and product quality.
• Polish and fabricate parts for countertops made from granite, quartz, and other materials using machine tools and hand tools.
• Perform general labor tasks associated with stone fabrication, including grinding, sanding, deburring, and finishing.
• Read and interpret shop diagrams, blueprints, and measurements to ensure correct fabrication and installation preparation.
• Use hand tools, power tools, saws, grinders, and other equipment safely and effectively in daily operations.
• Apply basic mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot minor issues with equipment and support maintenance as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, contributing to a safe and efficient production environment.

Essential Skills

• Proven ability to read and interpret shop diagrams, blueprints, and tape measurements accurately.
• Strong tape measure skills and comfort measuring in both standard and metric units.
• Experience operating machines in a production or fabrication environment, including polishing and beveling equipment.
• Demonstrated skill in cutting, grinding, polishing, sanding, and finishing stone or similar materials.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with machine operation, including CNC-based equipment.
• Comfort working with hand tools, power tools, saws, grinders, and related fabrication tools.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities and maintain production schedules.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors.
• Basic math skills to perform accurate measurements and calculations.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and openness to process improvement.
• Ability to perform general labor tasks in a physically demanding environment.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, multi-priority production setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in construction, fabrication, or countertop manufacturing is beneficial.
• Experience in working with granite, quartz, or other stone materials is an advantage.
• Familiarity with CNC routers and CNC tooling adjustment and dressing is preferred.
• Experience with deburring and finishing processes for fabricated parts is helpful.
• Steel-toed, non-slip boots are required; wet boots can be provided if needed.
• Willingness to work swing shift hours from Monday through Thursday.
• Ability to participate in and support preventative maintenance activities on CNC and other production equipment.

Work Environment

This position operates in a wet and dirtier stone fabrication environment, where water runs continuously with machines to control dust and debris from stone cutting. Some areas have standing water, and appropriate footwear is required; steel-toed, non-slip boots are mandatory, with wet boots available if needed. You will work around CNC machinery, polishing and beveling machines, saws, grinders, and other fabrication tools. The swing shift schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., with an initial training shift from Monday through Thursday, 4:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, requiring attention to safety procedures and comfort working with heavy materials and industrial equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilsonville, OR.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
