About Us:

Campbell Grinder Company is a leader in high-precision engineering and advanced CNC grinding solutions, specializing in delivering high-quality machines and innovative technology to our clients in the aerospace, defense, and machinery industries. We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with a focus on manufacturing of CNC grinding machines to join our dynamic team.


Position Description:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for ensuring manufacturability of machines from concept through build and install, floor support, work instructions, training and machine documentation. This is an onsite position.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manufacturability Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for CNC machine components and full system assemblies to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness
  • Collaboration Collaborate with design engineering teams to ensure designs meet manufacturability and assembly requirements. Coordinate with cross-functional teams including design engineering, supply chain, operations, service and suppliers to ensure project success and on-time delivery
  • Support & Design Provide hands-on support to production and assembly teams during machine builds, prototype development, and new product introduction (NPI). Troubleshoot assembly issues, including dimensional inaccuracies, internal or supplier manufacturing errors, inefficiencies. Design and develop custom fixtures, jigs, and tooling to improve machine assembly, reduce setup time, and increase throughput. Interface with the operations and services departments to support ongoing requests of engineering
  • Documentation Create and maintain detailed work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturing documentation. Develop and maintain user manuals, operating guides, and maintenance procedures for CNC machines, covering setup, operation, programming, troubleshooting, and safety
  • Technical Support Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support during the assembly and commissioning of machines on-site or at client facilities. Support of the Service department for field repairs.
  • Continuous Improvement Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs, improve quality, and increase productivity of both the CNC grinding equipment and engineering department.
  • Travel Travel when necessary to customers’ sites or vendor facilities. Minimal travel expected

Knowledge & Necessary Skills Required:
  • Ability to create and interpret technical drawings, assemblies, BOMs and technical documentation
  • Proficiency in Solidworks 3D CAD software for modeling, assemblies, drawings and related standards. Familiar with AutoCAD 2D.
  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and engineering drawings

  • Hands-on experience supporting production environments, troubleshooting machining and assembly issues, and driving process improvements
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally especially with the manufacturing floor and machine building
  • Exceptional technical knowledge, analytical, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and reasoning ability with a data-driven mindset.
  • Understands engineering concepts and CNC machining processes, including multi-axis machining
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturability.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes
  • Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects or tasks.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.


Education & Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a

related field (or equivalent practical experience)

  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role within CNC machining, machine building, or precision manufacturing environments
