Company Overview

We specialize in the development, manufacturing and customization of precision measurement devices, automated liquid handling stations, and sample management systems. For more than 60 years, Hamilton has been satisfying customer needs by combining quality materials with skilled workmanship, ensuring the highest level of performance of every precision fluid measuring device we manufacture.
Responsibilities
  • Assist engineers with CAD drawings, facility layouts, conducting experiments, design and process verification/validation, project logistics, and mechanical design.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
  • Complete daily documentation regarding production count, part inspection, and machine maintenance, along with other computer-aided tasks using CAD, Excel, and other Microsoft products.
  • Maintain area and equipment cleanliness and organization.
  • Package, label, and transport parts between production sequences. Perform in-process part inspection using manual inspection equipment and coordinate with the inspection department for inspections beyond production capabilities.
  • Assist in various production support and investigations tasks.
  • Load and unload parts and raw material from machines and fixtures. Adjust machine offsets and tooling to ensure product quality. Operate machine controls safely and consistently.
  • Use common equipment including basic hand tools, tool holders, calipers, micrometers, drop indicators, gage pins and blocks, ring and plug gages, height gages, Fowler Trimos height gages, Mitutoyo toolmaker, microscopes, and S-T Industries optical comparators.
  • Complete other special projects as needed.

Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, scales and more.

  • Basic knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with a basic understanding of geometric tolerances and dimensions

  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions

  • Must be adaptable to changing work environments, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events

  • Must possess basic math and communication skills

  • Willingness to do what is necessary to aid in the success of the machine shop

Education/Experience
  • Must be currently attending the University of Nevada Reno. Preference is to be enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering program.

  • Must be able to work part-time (20 hours approx.) Monday through Friday. (We will adjust working hours to work with Academic Schedule.

  • Responsible for adequately documenting work, test execution, findings, etc.

  • Mechanical aptitude is a plus.

  • Past experience in a Manufacturing environment is a plus.

  • Knowledge or experience with Machine shop, mills, and lathe is a plus.
