JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
As an active member of the Tooling Team, duties will be defined by the expectations of the Production Schedule. Repairs and maintains machinery, plumbing, physical structures and fixtures of all aspects of the operation performing any combination of the following duties:
  • Constructing and making aluminium tool/molds from the rough casting to a tool/mold ready for production. In performing the job, the tool/mold maker, uses various hand tools measuring devices and equipment such as lathe, milling machines, aluminium welders, drills, etc., and makes the tool/mold to drawings or other specifications. Another part of making tool/mold is installing the required plumbing.
  • Complete work orders in ITS2
  • Complete TQR on New Tools as well as complete required forms.
  • Make tool modifications
  • Follow tooling schedule for completing repairs
  • Follow tooling PM schedule to complete preventative maintenance on tools,
  • Troubleshooting tool/mold defects.
  • May also be required to troubleshoot tooling on the press.
  • The tool/mold maker also plans layouts and constructs jigs and other items as required.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy work environment with regular housekeeping and use of PPE
  • Actively participate in training of teammates in gaining new skills
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement Program.
  • Participation in the 5S program
  • All other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience: tool repairs & modifications, fabrication with aluminium and carbon steel.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to read and understand blueprints.
  • Skilled in the use of all machine shop equipment including lathe, milling machines, radial drill, aluminium and steel welding equipment and various hand tools.
  • Must be able to plan and follow the job through to completion doing all the necessary work required of the job.
  • Must be able to work with equipment required for plumbing on tool/molds.
