Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
Matthews International is seeking a qualified Senior Machine Operator to work in our Production Facility in the Richmond, IN area for our memorialization business segment.
The Senior Machine Operator will be responsible for the set up and operation of production equipment as well as coordinating the completion of the manufacturing required for orders within the area of assigned by performing the essential duties personally, through direct reports, and/or peers assigned with the machine shop.
Competitive Hourly Pay plus full benefits starting day one which includes: Medical, Dental, Vision, Near site clinic, Guaranteed annual bonus, Flexible Saving Account (FSA), short and long term disability (after 90 days), life insurance, earned time off (starts accruing immediately), 401(k) retirement plan with company match and employee stock purchase plan.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Operates machinery in accordance with work instructions and quality standards.
• Operates equipment safely in accordance with OSHA and company standards.
• Directs and trains helper(s) with assigned machinery to maintain production goals and utilization and ensure safety of all personnel at machines.
• Completes all production paperwork as required.
• Cross-trains on other positions in the plant as assigned.
• Uses press machines and other various hand tools according to production schedules and quality standards.
• Additional duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
• 2+ years of previous machine operator experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Machine Press experience preferred.
• Possess a mechanical aptitude; ability to use a large variety of hand tools and basic knowledge of power tools, forklifts, micrometers, measuring tools, etc.
• Ability to work overtime as necessary
• Must have current driver's license.
PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.
• Regularly/Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Regularly/Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• The noise level in the work environment may be high.
