Who You Are
An experienced Project Manager, who can succeed behind the computer, in the fabrication shop or in front of a client. You will play a critical role in supporting project management, design, testing, and execution of a variety of projects. This role requires experience in project management with a background in mechanical design, process design, business development, and the ability to collaborate across departments, including engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams.
A Day in the Life
Our customers trust us to help them develop simple, effective and deployable solutions to their most complex challenges. For that reason, we are seeking an experienced "Project Manager" in our Knoxville, TN facility. This person will support our customers in developing and managing projects from the proposal phase, through design, fabrication, testing and delivery all the way through start-up at customer sites. Through all of this, you will be showcasing AVANTech equipment and technologies and demonstrating and maturing solutions for our customers.
  • Assist project planning, proposal generation, and cost estimation
  • Support system design and development, working with engineering teams to provide cohesive design packages for AVANTech clients
  • Develop work packages for fabrication and work closely with production & quality teams to ensure compliance with design specifications, industry standards, and project requirements
  • Collaborate with suppliers to specify, quote and procure materials
  • Track project progress, manage risks, manage budgets and ensure timely execution of deliverables
  • Support testing and commissioning of systems, including writing test plans and validating system performance
  • Assist in business development efforts by identifying opportunities, managing change orders, supporting proposals, and engaging with potential clients
  • Communicate with internal teams and clients to ensure project alignment

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college/university or related technical field
  • 5-10 years minimum experience in project engineering, project management, design, or related technical roles
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing schedules and needs
  • Ability to travel to customer sites as required
  • Experience in writing process descriptions, procedures and test plans
  • Working knowledge of ASME, ANS, AWS, and other relevant industry codes
  • Business development experience or previous exposure to client engagement
  • Experience within the commercial nuclear industry & DOE is a plus
  • Experience in liquid & solid radwaste processing is a plus
  • Ability to size and specify pumps, valves and other process equipment is a plus
  • Ability to perform basic mechanical and process engineering evaluations and calculations is a plus
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D or Solidworks 3D modeling software is a plus
