Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Machine/Grind Shop Manager to support supervision and daily management of our machining and grinding department in our Shrewsbury, MA facility. This is a full-time onsite position, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. This role requires deep knowledge of machining operations, CNC programming principles, tooling, and workflow optimization. Strong leadership, resource planning, and a solid understanding of manufacturing best practices in a technical environment are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee a team of machinists and precision grinders, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency.
  • Plan and organize production schedules to meet customer demands, ensuring timely delivery of highโ€‘quality products.
  • Monitor production processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Make daily decisions to support ongoing operations, production scheduling and planning.
  • Manage releases of new jobs, directing resource allocation and daily work plans.
  • Lead personnel hiring, development, retention, and training.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and product engineering to develop best practices, fixtures, tooling, and measurement tools and techniques.
  • Ensure applicable product quality, ISO9001 policies, and workplace environmental, health and safety (EH&S) requirements are met.
  • Maintain daily / weekly /monthly production reports for cost tracking, onโ€‘time delivery, cost per part, defects, and other KPIs.
  • Collaborate with facilities manager on equipment acquisitions, maintenance, upgrades, and physical layout of work cells.
  • Foster a positive work environment, encourage teamwork, and resolve conflicts or issues that arise among production personnel.
Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of direct experience in a machine shop environment with demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 and Lean Manufacturing practices.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expertise with Haas CNC machine tools and/or Studer CNC cylindrical grinders is a plus.
  • Experience with the implementation and use of shop floor management software is a bonus, especially if with Fulcrum.
