Job description

Job Title: Quality Supervisor (Machine)
Shifts: Day

Dept.: Machine
Type: Salary, Exempt

Reports to: Director of Quality
Class: Indirect

The following are tasks to be performed by the Quality Supervisor (Machine). The duties are not limited to this list. Any additional requirements, changes, or deletions will be at the discretion of the Director of Quality. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility and duty satisfactorily.

SUMMARY: The Quality Supervisor (Machine) is responsible for directing and overseeing the Machine, Paint and Incoming Quality Inspectors, optimizing resources to achieve quality and delivery metrics as per BPM, ensuring quality requirements are met and communicated throughout the organization, supporting lean manufacturing principles, promoting teamwork through their behavior, acting in accordance with Altek's Policies and adhering to the goals and expectations as defined by management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises, trains, delegates and coaches the Machine, Paint and Incoming Quality Inspectors
  • Monitors performance progress of direct reports related to qualitative PDP factors, provides prompt, honest feedback in a coaching/team building capacity, provides praise and recognition to those that demonstrate improvement and adaptability in collaboration with the President to develop the greatest potential in the individual and in the team
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure processes are capable of meeting the customer specifications
  • Communicates between all departments to ensure product meets all quality standards
  • Participates in NPI meetings to ensure quality concerns are addressed
  • Validates and/or performs First Article Inspections; ensures that all FAIs are completed and communicated in a timely manner
  • Works with Engineering Program Managers when processes are not capable in order to make criteria change
  • Analyzes data (RMA, scrap, rework, compliant, etc.) to identify not process-capable products
  • Performs and/or supervises the execution of an 8D Corrective/Preventative Action and verifies effectiveness
  • Oversees the management and electronic retention of customer waivers and deviation documentation
  • Performs in-process and final inspections to check dimensions, cosmetic criteria counts and packaging of parts to ensure quality
  • Ensures all job operations as well as certificates of compliance and material certificates are complete
  • Answers quality questions and effectively trains others in the use of basic measuring instruments, dimensional inspection, cosmetic inspection and general drawing interpretation
  • Manages filing of production and measurement documents
  • Responsible for measuring parts and managing data for process capability studies performed at Altek
  • Responsible for updating quality plans and documentation for print revision changes
  • Assists in the creation and continuous improvement of SWIs and BPM
  • Attends and participate in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings as needed
  • Staffs to meet the inspection needs with the best possible candidates, gathers input from stakeholders regarding a candidateโ€™s cultural and professional fit within Altek as well as and their technical expertise as compared to the job requirements
  • Participates in all audit processes
  • Builds and maintains positive rapport, communication and behavior with other Altek employees, customers and/or suppliers
  • Adapts and modifies as circumstances warrant
  • Demonstrates safe work habits
  • Embraces Altek's Quality Policy to ensure quality to internal and external customers

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of five yearsโ€™ experience in Quality Assurance and/or Machine Shop environment
  • CNC, CMM programming experience, PC-DMIS preferred
  • Experience with AS9100 standard
  • Experience with AS9102 First Article
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001
  • Strong understanding of GD&T
  • CMM programming experience
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Understanding of machine shop, assembly and manufacturing functions
  • Ability to accurately read blueprints (aerospace/military)
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Pays strong attention to detail and exhibits critical thinking skills
  • Strong written, verbal and digital communication skills (Word, Excel, ERP, etc)
