Rotor Shop Machinist

Our Rotor Shop and Machine Shop operations play a critical role in supporting gas turbine, steam turbine, and rotating equipment repairs. The Rotor Shop Machinist contributes directly to operational excellence by performing precision machining, inspections, and repairs that ensure reliability, safety, and quality for customer equipment.

Fueling Your Passion

As a Rotor Shop Machinist, you will be responsible for performing manual machining operations on compressor and turbine rotors and components. You will work with engineering drawings and specifications, operate machine tools, and support rotor handling, blading, and grinding activities. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety, quality, and operational procedures.

As a Rotor Shop Machinist, you will be responsible for:

  • Reading and interpreting documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
  • Starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required.
  • Selecting, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, and grinders.
  • Unstacking and stacking compressor rotors.
  • Blading and tip grinding compressor wheels.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have High School Diploma or equivalent and 5+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have experience with rotor manual machining specially with gas turbine rotor machine.
  • Have demonstrate intermediate skill level (Aligning, Runouts, Turning, and Grinding on at least two of three machines: Manual Lathe, and VTLs.
  • Have supported Rotor shop and Machine shop based on customer needs. Steam rotors, Gas rotors, Cases, Gas components, Aero components, and Value rack repairs.
  • Have ability to operate manual lathe for rotor lathe work.
  • Have experience in Gas turbine repair (HSPT, GE10's, Fr3, Fr5, Fr6, and F7) Rotors and component machining is a big plus.

  • 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM (Overtime and weekend work available)
