**Bindery Machine Operator

**

**Originally established as a quick-print shop, this company has grown into a leading local print production operation.

SUMMARY

This position helps in various areas at the end of production. This position has responsibility for setting up and operating a variety of machines. A quality-driven candidate with an eye for detail is the ideal fit for this role.

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 7 am - 3:30 pm

PAY: Starting at $24/hr - based on extent of direct experience. 

**

**DUTIES:

**

  • **Operates production equipment, including but not limited to printers, binders, and trimmers.

    **

  • **Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.

    **

  • **Perform routine and preventive maintenance on equipment, cleaning parts and troubleshooting minor mechanical issues.

    **

  • **Primarily operate a Saddle Stitch binding machine to drive staples through the centerfold of the signatures for magazines and other smaller, thinner publications

    **

  • **Frequently use a die-cutting machine to create unique cut-out pages, cut decorative embellishments, or cut paper into individual pages. 

    **

  • **Frequently operate a large trimming machine to cut paper stock into uniformly-sized press sheets

    **

  • **Work independently to maintain consistent quality throughout the run and maintain quantity counts.

    **

  • **Communicates with the team and escalates issues when equipment malfunctions.

    **

  • **Be available and willing to assist at other production stations as needed.

    **

  • **Maintain a high level of efficiency, performance quality, and a positive and helpful attitude. 

    **

  • **Able and willing to learn new tasks, adjust workflows to accommodate production levels, and correct mistakes. 

    **

**QUALIFICATIONS

**

  • **Minimum 2 years in a commerical/industrial print production environment with positive references.

    **

  • **Minimum 1 year of Bindery Machine operation experience, with a preference for operating a Saddle Stitching Machine.

    **

  • **Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with accuracy

    **

  • **Must be able to lift 40 pounds consistently. 

    **

  • **Must be able to sit or stand on your feet all day and be able to bend, turn, twist, and lift.

    **

  • **Use various digital and technical systems to track production, inventory, and other workflows.

    **

  • **Maintain a positive, helpful attitude and be able to work with people from various experience levels and backgrounds.

    **

You should be proficient in:

  • Mechanical Troubleshooting Skills
  • Knowledge of Large Format Graphics
  • Binding Experience
  • Saddle Stitch Binding
