Timken Power Systems, Philadelphia Gear brand, is seeking a CNC Machinist for the New Castle, DE service center to support operations by machining parts related to gear and power transmission manufacturing.
Responsibilities include:
  • Ability to set-up, program and operate Shibaura(TOSHIBA) VTL, Fermat HBM, ProtoTrak VMC, ProtoTrak knee mills and lathes, and Johnford CNC lathe with active tooling.
  • Be able to program the following controls: Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens and Trak KMX and SLX.
  • Identify improvement opportunities in programming, manufacturing methods, tooling, and fixturing.
  • Work with other facility teams regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate productions processes.
  • Assist with inspection and validation using basic inspection equipment.
  • Considerable knowledge of work holding and tooling processes.
  • Ensures that documentation is in accordance with appropriate QMS procedures.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience in a shop environment working with CNC turning/milling carbon steels including machine set-up, programming, tooling design, and machine operation.
  • Strong knowledge of tooling, inspection, and fixturing of low quantity precision parts.
  • Proven experience establishing machining feeds, speeds, and depth of cuts required to maximize production.
  • Ability to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form and apply appropriate judgment.
  • Mastercam experience is a plus.
  • Proficient mathematical skills to calculate machine offsets/speeds/feeds for production optimization.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings/blueprints, and knowledgeable in GD&T.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, housekeeping, and high quality workmanship.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers that foster teamwork and unity of purpose.
  • Physical requirements: ability to walk, stand, climb, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, see, hear and use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Effective verbal presentation skills for one-on-one and small group situations with employees.
  • US citizenship required or otherwise legally authorized to work in an ITAR-regulated environment.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
