JOB DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION:               MACHINIST

 

REPORTS TO:         RAPID MACHINE LEAD

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Excellent understanding of machining operations using a variety of specialized equipment
  • Previous experience through formal training, apprenticeship programs or machine shop is required
  • Accurately read prints/drawings and measuring devices such as (micrometers, calipers, etc)
  • Must have a clear understanding of tolerances and print specifications
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Must have a cooperative attitude, necessary to work effectively with others
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Commitment to Quality Management Systems and Continuous Improvement
  • Commitment to L&P Safety and Environmental initiatives

PRIMARY DUTIES:

 

The primary duties of the employee are (but not limited to) the following:

  • Production of parts using specialized machinery to ensure parts are to specifications
  • General maintenance of specialized machinery to ensure that the machinery is in efficient working order
  • Occasionally work with engineers to find the best machining process on new or replacement parts
  • Have a clear understanding of all processes involved with the position
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities related to the product, process and/or the system
  • Identify, record and communicate any problems relating to product, process and the management system
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels
  • Verify the implementation of solutions
  • Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
  • Conform to all Quality and Safety requirements and procedures
  • Perform other duties as requested or as deemed appropriate
