We're seeking a Set-Up Technician to play a key role in the timely and efficient setup of injection molding machines, sprue pickers, auxiliary equipment, and other equipment related to the plastic injection molding process.

What You'll Do
  • Perform complete setup of the injection molding machine, automation, and workstation for production.
  • Interpret blueprint specifications, setup documentation, control plans, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Make necessary electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, gas, and cooling system connections to molds.
  • Ensure the correct plastic material, plastic melt temperatures, shot size, injection speed, and pressures are properly set.
  • Start molding machines for production as directed by the Shift Supervisor.
  • Troubleshoot and correct routine molding process issues.
  • Operate overhead hoists and cranes to position materials.
  • Organize the workstation layout according to established criteria.
  • Set up automation and auxiliary equipment for use at the press.
  • Maintain accurate production setup documentation for each molding machine and workstation.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize production and share recommendations with appropriate personnel.
  • Review molding machines and auxiliary equipment for mechanical issues.
  • Monitor press cycle times during production and notify appropriate personnel of jobs requiring attention.
  • Maintain the mold storage area in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Perform all job duties with a focus on safety guidelines and procedures.

What We're Looking For
  • Completion of a two-year apprenticeship program in injection molding machine setup or extensive work experience as an injection molding machine setup technician preferred.
  • Candidates with related manufacturing or technical experience may be considered for training through our internal apprenticeship program if otherwise qualified.
  • Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and communicate in English to accurately interpret blueprints, work instructions, safety procedures, and production documentation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
