Job description

SR. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY ENGINEER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and/or guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, ASTM, ANSI and other applicable regulatory agencies
  • Collaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies and procedures
  • Oversee and communicate industrial hygiene programs to relevant personnel, including developing and executing exposure monitoring plans
  • Implement controls to mitigate chemical and dust exposure hazards
  • Evaluate and implement machine guarding for complex and high-volume automated equipment
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Design and deliver chemical-specific awareness training
  • Complete and maintain documented safety observations from regular hazard identification audits
  • Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine root causes, corrective actions and preventive measures
  • Develop, implement and maintain emergency response protocols
  • Assist with compliance for all applicable environmental regulations established by the EPA, RCRA, DOT, TECQ and other applicable regulatory agencies

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience in the design, development and operational oversight of environmental, health and safety disciplines

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with an emphasis in occupational health and safety and/or chemical engineering
  • Experience with reading PI&Ds and process flow diagrams to evaluate risks associated with complex chemical processes
  • Familiarity with process safety management (PSM) best practices
  • Advanced knowledge of implementing best practice chemical and industrial hygiene programs for combustible dusts, oxidizers, acids and bases, and flammables
  • Specific experience with high-level program safety management for metal plating lines, copper etching lines, direct or electroless metallization lines, plasma etching systems, and wastewater treatment facilities a plus
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Canandaigua, NY area
  • Position occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:   

Pay range:      

$125,000.00 - $175,000.00/per year           

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
