Night Shift I Information

Schedule: for regular full-time employees working the first night shift (Night Shift I), core workday/ hours are from 5 PM to 5 AM Sunday through Tuesday evenings. Overtime is available but not mandatory. Trainingmayoccur during the day shift. Day shift hours are 5 AM to 3 PM on Monday through Thursday.

Night Shift Offerings

Shift differential pay hours: for regular full-time employees working night shift, four (4) additional hours per week, at the employee's standard hourly rate, will be allotted to the employees' paycheck if the employee has physically worked 36 or more that week (WORK 36 HOURS, PAID FOR 40).

Additionally, employees who regularly work either night shift receive shift differential pay of $1.50 per hour for night shift hours.

Position Summary

The Nights I Deburring Technician is responsible for preparing fabricated metal parts for the next stage of production by removing sharp edges, burrs, weld spatter, and other surface imperfections. This position primarily involves manual sanding and finishing, along with operating Timesavers equipment for larger-volume or larger-part sanding needs, while maintaining consistent quality, safety, and production standards. This role supports night-shift production goals by maintaining workflow continuity during night shift hours, ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform manual deburring, sanding, grinding, and finishing of fabricated metal parts using hand and power tools.
  • Operate Timesavers equipment to efficiently sand and finish larger parts and production runs.
  • Inspect parts for sharp edges, burrs, weld spatter, scratches, and other surface imperfections.
  • Ensure parts meet established quality and finishing requirements before moving to the next stage of production.
  • Select and use appropriate abrasives, sanding materials, and tools based on material type and required finish.
  • Follow work instructions, drawings, job travelers, and established production procedures.
  • Operate machinery in accordance with work instructions and safety standards, including proper PPE requirements and machine safety practices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Learn the JRMW processes involved with the completion of assigned parts.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, finishing, deburring, sanding, grinding, or a related environment preferred.
  • Experience operating Timesavers or similar wide-belt sanding/ finishing equipment is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize differences in surface finish and edge quality.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
