As the Safety Engineer you will:
  • Oversee compliance with OSHA and other federal, state, and local safety regulations
  • Maintain and update safety policies, procedures, and training materials for assigned plants
  • Develop and deliver safety training for plant personnel, facilitate safety teams and actions.
  • Conduct regular plant safety inspections and audits.
  • Identify and mitigate hazards related to machinery, equipment, and processes.
  • Implement and maintain lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, recommending corrective actions.
  • Track and report workplace injuries and claims data to identify trends and implement preventive measures.
  • Maintain safety and occupational health documentation and records, including records related to Worker's Compensation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Workers' Compensation program across all locations. This includes partnering with the Workers' Compensation carrier to manage claims and ensure timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, site leadership, and personnel on return-to-work programs and light-duty accommodations.
  • Collaborate and partner with site leaders and HR Business Partners to address location specific safety concerns, promoting a strong safety culture and integrating safety initiatives into workplace programs
  • Oversee and coordinate third-party safety vendors, including contractors for audits, training, and specialized safety services (including managing contracts).
    Job Skills Requirements
    • Open to travel to each location within the businesses
    • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, safety regulations, and plant safety protocols
    • Hands-on experience with equipment safety and hazard mitigation.
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
    • Familiarity with basic medical terminology
    • Current certification in CPR; EMT or First Responder certification preferred.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in plant safety or industrial safety engineering
