Job Purpose

Under the direction of the Paint department Supervisor, the Industrial Painter will perform surface preparation, masking, priming, and painting operations to meet customer specifications and quality standards. This role focuses on high-quality execution of painting tasks and support for the paint department team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify materials prior to work to ensure product traceability
  • Prepare surfaces for coating, including debris removal to a specified standard
  • Receive and complete work orders accurately with thorough attention to detail
  • Perform in-process inspections to ensure product quality and contractual compliance
  • Work with 3rd party NACE inspectors to schedule coating and inspections at planned intervals
  • Maintain inventory of paint department supplies
  • Keep accurate records of conditions and coating times, and submit reports of work performed
  • Complete assigned tasks on a daily basis
  • Operate overhead bridge cranes and forklifts to safely move materials
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor

Job Requirements

  • 3-5 years of industrial painting experience preferred
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical skills
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, blueprints, and technical instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards
  • Willingness to work overtime as required
  • Ability and willingness to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including full-face respirators

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand up for extended periods of time. Will have to spend time using your hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools, or controls. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and will use WEMCO's overhead cranes to lift any equipment that weighs more than 50 pounds. Must be able to perform duties while wearing appropriate PPE: safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, paint suit, breathing apparatus, etc. May be asked to bend over or squat for an extended period of time. Must be able to detect differences between colors. Must possess the ability to see details both at close range and at a distance.
