OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

The Machine Operator performs task and routines within the Glass Line. They are expected to have a good knowledge of glass, and sealed unit assembly processes. The Machine operator must be fully competent in safe product handling, and movement, and glass identification. They must ensure they maintain current knowledge of and comply with all safety requirements on the line and throughout the building and follow all injury prevention policies and procedures. The operator is required to collaborate with the continuous improvement team, and always look for improved ways of performing their duties.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Production

  • Work with team members to ensure the highest quality and efficiency in the production process.
  • Identifying and demonstrating use of personal protective equipment required for the safe handling of glass.
  • Identifying materials that do not meet the quality requirements and reporting the defective material to the Team Leader.
  • Completing quality related documents accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Keeping work area free from clutter, recycling waste and remove all dust daily.
  • Follow all injury prevention policies and procedures.
  • Maintain department, equipment, and company materials in a clean and professional manner.
  • Operating IG (insulated glass) lines.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma.

EXPERIENCE / CAPABILITIES

  • Comfortable with units of measure such as mm and inches (metric system).
  • Able to identify the different types of glass.
  • Able to read and interpret specification sheets.
  • Basic understanding of computers.
  • Communicate effectively in English both verbal and written.
