As a Machine Maintenance Specialist, you will be essential in ensuring the optimal performance of manufacturing equipment and machinery. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, your role involves utilizing your mechanical knowledge/ trouble shooting and experience with sensors, robotics, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical problem-solving skills to conduct regular maintenance and repairs in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment. Your core skills in blueprint reading and machining, combined with premium skills in PLCs, will enable you to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently. Strong communication abilities are vital as you collaborate with team members to uphold quality control and enhance operational efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

Work Schedule:We require the ideal candidates to be able to train and work on dayshift 6am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday. Candidates are required to work occasional Fridays as per business needs. Candidates must be able to go on afternoons (4pm-2:30am) during peak season and stay there as long as required but be able to transition back to day shift if required.

What You Will Do:

Responsibilities

  • Work with stamping operations to ensure plant equipment is operating when necessary, through diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair. Issues may be mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or electrical.
  • Demonstrates excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to resolve equipment breakdowns and implement performance improvements.
  • Repair basic mechanical components and replace parts on machines such as bearings, filters, wiring, valves, gauges and switches.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all plant equipment to ensure maximum productivity. Schedules may be directed by manufacturer's specifications or developed internally.
  • Work with stamping operations to focus on improving productivity through the use of improvements in machines, materials, or processes.
  • Install and troubleshoot any new equipment as directed. Attendance at work during the regularly scheduled shift is an essential duty. This includes, but is not limited to the ability to work overtime as required, to be present at work, arrive on time and be at the work station ready for work at the start of the shift.
  • Contributes to the success of MiTek by installing, maintaining and repairing manufacturing and packaging equipment.
  • Supports quality investigations.
  • Maintains awareness and expertise in production equipment design, optimization, and maintenance.
  • Document and track changeover times and record.
  • Follows all safety rules and procedures including Lockout/Tagout program, housekeeping, and 5S standards and observes the operations to insure a safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience working as a mechanic or die setter in industrial manufacturing industry (e.g. Pharma, Automotive, Food, Health Care, Beverage).
  • Experience with set-up of equipment and detail fine adjustments for optimized operation.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and documenting of work done after completion.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and delving into/ understanding their automation controls, sensors etc.
  • Self-managed team player, adept at working with teams in a production environment.
  • Proven technical competency in equipment optimization, and maintenance.
  • Experience with analyzing and improving Maintenance Plans and Procedures.
  • Experience with ordering parts and dealing with machine shops and outside vendors.
  • Machine shop and fabrication skills would be an asset.
  • Must have mechanical background or training to support application.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred leadership/supervisory experience in maintenance and/or other similar fields.
  • Experience with automated production processes and related equipment (including robotics) would be an asset.
  • Experience working in a Manufacturing environment (pharmaceutical/Automotive) would be a definite advantage.
  • Stamping press knowledge would be beneficial but not required.
  • Experience maintaining and servicing packaging and stamping press equipment.
  • Strong root cause and trouble shooting skills.
  • Experience in a maintenance of Die Presses within a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Robotics and/or PLC knowledge would be an asset.

  • Language Skills:Effectively communicate with co-workers and management regarding work and safety issues.
    • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Mathematical Skills:Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability:Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Comprehend job training and safety instructions.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Certificates & Licenses: Lock-Out, Tag-out Certified; Crane Certified; Forklift Certified; Ladder and Sling Certified.
  • Other Skills and Abilities:Read a tape measure, use micrometer, voltmeter, and calipers. Knowledge of blueprint reading. General knowledge of technology or electronics helpful.
  • Soft Skills: Possess good leadership skills and able to work independently. Conflict resolution skills would be an asset. Works well in a team environment.
