MANUAL MACHINIST 
Location: 85 Morrow Road, Barrie, Ontario
Employment Type: Permanent | Full-Time
Shift Details: Monday - Friday, 7:00am to 3:00pm

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor, the position performs a variety of manufacturing and machining tasks, including fabrication high temperature rollers, endless belting, and fabrication/construction. The remaining points are inserted under the duties and responsibilities section.
This role has been created to cover a current vacancy within the team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Setup, pre-use inspections and operating equipment within the fabrication shop, to include lathe, saws, milling and CNC equipment.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and CAD drawings for parts manufacturing.
  • Checking quality and accuracy of parts manufactured using measurement devices (micrometer, vernier caIiper, etc.).
  • Minor maintenance to machinery when required.
  • Fit and assemble machined parts into complete units.
  • Apply knowledge of machine shop theory & procedures, shop mathematics, machine ability of materials and layout techniques, using hand and power tools.
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces.
  • Set-up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine setting or programmed control data.
  • Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to production supervisor.
  • Responsible for tracking and coordinating inventory for the fabricating department.
  • Participate in other work cells within the department, such as punch press, fabric welder, belting and composite fabrication, as required.
  • Sets-up and organizes individual work area with designated supplies, forms and resources materials while always maintaining cleanliness.
SKILLS: 
  • Hands on experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly.
  • Proficient in math.
  • Proficient in computers and working within ERP systems.
  • Working knowledge of health and safety protocols when operating lathes and milling machinery.
  • Excellent coordination and mechanical skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as cohesively with employees and supervisors as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to resolve conflicts and problems.
  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of High School.
  • Completion of post-secondary education in machining, is an asset.
