Job Title: Manufacturing Machine OperatorJob Description

The Manufacturing Machine Operator sets up, operates, and troubleshoots production machinery to meet defined specifications while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role supports continuous improvement initiatives, ensures accurate documentation, and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to achieve production goals.

Responsibilities
  • Set up machines according to machine specifications, standard work, and best practices to meet production requirements.
  • Convert the correct materials in accordance with work order specifications and verify that materials match job requirements.
  • Execute production trials as needed and accurately record test results and observations.
  • Complete all required quality documents clearly and legibly at the appropriate stages of production.
  • Train Manufacturing Associates using the passport program and provide guidance to support their skill development.
  • Progress continuously toward completion of the Manufacturing Operator I passport program.
  • Comply with all safety rules, procedures, and standards while operating equipment and performing daily tasks.
  • Immediately report any unsafe conditions to the shift supervisor, group lead, or management.
  • Report any concerns about potentially harmful environmental practices to the shift supervisor or management.
  • Ensure compliance with standard work instructions and other applicable manufacturing standards.
  • Identify and communicate near misses and safety incidents to support a strong safety culture.
  • Operate and run any assigned production line as required to support the production schedule.
  • Support initiatives from other departments, including Quality, Engineering, and Customer Care, as needed.
  • Monitor adherence to the production schedule and promptly communicate when output targets are not met.
  • Assist with material handling activities as required to maintain smooth production flow.
  • Manage downtime effectively by performing efficient changeovers, start-ups, and line restarts.
  • Support continuous improvement projects focused on reducing downtime and addressing inefficiencies.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvement and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maximize throughput and equipment uptime by following best practices and addressing issues proactively.
  • Identify and communicate maintenance issues on production lines and enter work orders as needed.
  • Troubleshoot machines as required and request additional technical support when issues cannot be resolved independently.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and safety systems when assisting with troubleshooting and basic maintenance tasks.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures and other safety protocols when working around equipment.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1–2 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to follow instructions and complete documentation.
  • Ability to read and understand complex work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Basic computer and math skills, including familiarity with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented approach to work with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and other departments.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs to 75 lbs, depending on location requirements.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical concepts and troubleshooting practices related to production equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience working on or around mechanical systems.
  • Understanding of hydraulics and their application in manufacturing equipment.
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout procedures and safe work practices in an industrial setting.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
