We are looking for a Seamer to join our team! The Seamer will set-up and operation of the seamer according to job specifications, including but not limited to knowledge of tension controls, print defects, edge handling/quality, touch screen controls, mechanical devices, handling of solvents and the metric system. Must know how to read and understand copy sheets and work instructions. Commitment to quality, efficiency and safety are required. Must be very detail-oriented & be able to maintain tolerances of less than a tenth of a millimeter.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Knowledge of, understanding of and compliance to all Quality System Documents that are associated with this job description.
  • Actively participate in MCC's Lean, Quality, Product Safety, SQF (Safe Quality Foods) and Workplace Safety Programs.
  • Knowledge of tension controls, print defects, edge handling/quality, touch screen controls, mechanical devices, handling of solvents and the metric system.
  • Ensure all set ups are done according to job specifications (correct proof, job bag, correct type of solution, correct slit side (2.5mm/.5mm), solution side, web guide side, proper position and pressure of nip roller, correct pin size, correct tensions for unwind and rewind rolls, proper amount per roll (convert labels into meters), check diameter of finished rolls.
  • Pull samples every 3-5 minutes maintain all required paperwork. Ensure quality of bond, solution bond width and oscillation width.
  • Continuous monitoring and adjustment of solution and lay flat.
  • Follow all safety rules while handling chemicals.
  • Monitor finished rolls-proper core placement and tensions.
  • Ensure proper amount on skid, all labels and stickers placed properly on boxes, paperwork
    for shipping correct and samples, if needed.
  • Line clearance and splice overs must be signed off by operator.
  • Check samples for press defects.
  • Troubleshoot running issues, i.e.: baggy materials oscillated slit rolls, etc.
  • Follow up with packers to ensure paperwork matches shipping stickers.
  • Complete daily shift-change communication sheet.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Seamer & Slitter machines preferred
  • Must HAVE machine operator experience (2+years preferred)
  • Safety conscious
