Printing Press Operator

Department 131 Special Mailings

(1 OR MORE OPENINGS)

Position Pay:

$18.75

After 6 Months:

$23.37

Must be available to work all shifts.

1st Shift - 7:00 am -3:00 pm

2nd Shift - 3:00 pm -11:00 pm

3rd Shift - 11:00 pm -7:00 am


This is a Union position that follows a Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Primary Purpose:

Assists Pressman in the operation printing presses including Bindery equipment.

Job Duties/Requirements:

  • Operate assigned powered equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain 5S and a safe work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership.
  • Work efficiently and diligently.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Assist Pressman in operating multi brands of Printing and Bindery equipment.
  • Assist Pressman in monitoring operation of running presses, copiers and making necessary adjustments to meet job specifications.
  • Assist Pressman with quality assurance control, making sure that all material produced is of the quality and order it was expected.
  • Assist with packing and shipping accordingly.
  • Assist with the mailing inserting machine.
  • Assist Completing Shipping request for all completed orders.
  • Transfer completed bundles of product off machine conveyor and stack onto pallets, carts, or package in cases.
  • Remove skids of product using Hand Truck.
  • Assist Pressman other team members with various duties including loading up of the printing press, bindery equipment and/or special handwork to meet customer requests.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Ability to take stacks (average 5-40 lbs.) using repetitive hand/wrist movement, off the end of a machine (2-4 feet high) and stack product on skids from floor level to 5 feet high using repetitive bending and twisting.
  • Ability to transfer completed bundles of product (5-30 lbs.) off machine conveyor and stack onto pallets or into cases or carts that potentially weigh from 5 to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to use a hand pallet jack.
  • Ability to use computer equipment, scissors, and tape gun.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently as needed.
  • Ability to read and write; possess good verbal and written comprehension.
  • Ability to prioritize in an ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to stand up to 10 hours per day.
  • Ability to take direction and complete tasks fully and in a timely manner to meet customer expectations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work overtime or any shift as required.
