Job description

The Meat Production Associate reports to the Meat Production Supervisor and is responsible for all meat production tasks. The Meat Production Associate may be placed in certain areas of the meat production operation based on experience level. Each new level in which the Meat Production Associate operates at requires a certain level of training. He/she is responsible for learning company protocols and executing them in a professional manner under the supervision of a Meat Production Supervisor or Meat Production Specialist.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Identifying different breeds of meat and the primal sections of each breed.
  • Handle raw beef, pork, poultry, and seafood.
  • Use knives and/or band saws for the purpose of cutting/prepping raw meat for packaging.
  • Apply all safety/health protocols set in place by the company and federal/state/local law.
  • Cutting and arranging beef onto a tray in accordance with company protocol.
  • Cutting and arranging pork onto a tray in accordance with company protocol.
  • Cutting and arranging poultry onto a tray in accordance with company protocol.
  • Cutting and arranging seafood onto a tray in accordance with company protocol.
  • Proper cleaning and sanitation of production areas and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain a working relationship with all peers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrate and support a high level of integrity. Represent Freshfields Farm in a courteous and professional manner while interacting with all vendors, customers, and coworkers.
  • Occasionally operate an electronic and or manual pallet jack in a safe and efficient manner after being trained.
  • Use ladders for various purposes throughout the building.
  • Assist with any other tasks within the building that require additional manpower.
  • Occasionally use a manual/automated wrapping machine for the purpose of packing raw meat.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma required. 1-3 years experience preferred. Entry level positions are available as a Meat Production Associate. Responsibilities will vary based on experience level and training completed.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Food Safety Certification preferred.
