Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Packer reports to the Molding Cell Leader and the Packer Supervisor. Their primary responsibility is to pack molded production parts while ensuring quality by visually inspecting parts for quality defects. Their secondary responsibilities include housekeeping and sorting as required. When performing duties of the Relief Packer, their primary responsibility is to relieve Packers during breaks, lunches, and to cover for absenteeism.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Packing production parts into boxes as per packing specifications
  • Obtain packing supplies from designated spots at each machine, as per the packaging specifications
  • Assemble boxes as required, label the boxes, and move packed boxes through the tape machine
  • Responsible for visually inspecting parts for quality defects before placing in boxes.
  • The Packer must escalate to Machine Operator or Cell Leader when observing consistent quality defects or longer machine downtime
  • Assist with line clearance when there is a product change and assist cell leaders with disposition of non-conformance products
  • Sort offline production parts as directed by Cell Leaders
  • Complete line inspection form throughout their shift and complete line clearance checklist form during product change
  • They will weigh and record scrap, disposing scrap products identifying them with the suitable scrap sticker when assigned.
  • The Packer will relieve other Packers for lunches, breaks, and cover for absenteeism and unplanned Packer Allocation when assigned.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Educational Requirements: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Physical Requirements: Must be able to work with constant exposure to moving machinery and noise. The physical requirements include constant standing and movements of a repetitious and unchanging nature.
Communication Skills: Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills
Additional Education/Experience/Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others as part of a team
