Job description

Job Title: Production Machine Operator

Job Description

Join a team-focused manufacturing operation that produces steel components used in major commercial and industrial construction projects. As a Production Machine Operator, you will work hands-on with steel materials, operate production equipment, and contribute directly to the manufacturing process in a fast-paced environment. Entry-level and experienced candidates are welcome, and comprehensive training is provided for those without prior manufacturing experience. 1st and 2nd shift opportunities are available, with all new hires starting on 1st shift for training before moving to their assigned schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cut, prepare, and process steel materials for production.
  • Operate manufacturing machines and equipment safely.
  • Rotate between different workstations based on production needs.
  • Inspect materials and finished products for quality.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and tape measures to complete tasks.
  • Assist with machine operation, including:
    • Shears
    • Press machines
    • Saws
    • Other fabrication equipment
  • Perform assembly, packing, and material handling duties.
  • Assist with construction-related tasks such as framing, carpentry, yard work, and site cleanup.
  • Work with team members to meet production goals.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Work overtime and occasional Saturdays when needed.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manufacturing, production, construction, or general labor experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate or learn production machinery.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and interest in working with machines.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Reliable attendance and positive attitude.
  • Ability to adapt to different job tasks.
  • Willingness to work up to 10-hour shifts, overtime, and occasional weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Manufacturing or machine operation experience.
  • Construction, framing, carpentry, or yard work experience.
  • Experience with fabrication equipment such as:
    • Shears
    • Press machines
    • Saws
  • Experience working with steel materials.
  • Strong attention to quality and detail.
  • Interest in learning new skills and advancing within the company.
Work Environment
  • Non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility.
  • Hot working conditions during summer months.
  • Fast-paced production environment.
  • Regular use of machinery, hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Initial training provided on 1st shift for 1 to 4 weeks.
  • 2nd Shift Schedule:
    • Monday to Thursday: 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM
    • Friday: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
  • Shift differential available for off-shift employees.
  • Overtime may be scheduled before/after shifts and on Saturdays.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
