Job description

Job Description Summary
GFL Environmental is looking for a full time Facility Operator, Midnight Shift to help support our operations in Hamilton, ON. The Facility Operator will be responsible to report to the Operations Supervisor. Also be responsible for performing daily operations such as complete production reports and paperwork, and bulk and consolidate household hazardous waste (i.e. paint, stain, solvents, cleaners and aerosols) manually or by machine.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Bulk and consolidate household hazardous waste (i.e. paint, stain, solvents, cleaners and aerosols) manually or by machine
  • Perform physical labour by lifting containers up to 20L in size
  • Complete production reports and paperwork
  • Participate in company supplied training
  • Work independently or as part of a team to achieve daily production goals
  • Work safely at all times
  • Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies:

  • High School Diploma
  • Forklift License is an asset
  • Previous experience handling chemicals is an asset
  • Previous experience in an industrial setting is an asset
  • Must be able to read and identify labels on containers of waste to determine hazard characteristics
  • Must be able to write in a clear and legible manner
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to get to and from work on a daily basis. The facility is located on a bus route
  • Must possess good verbal communication skills
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
