Job description

The Loader Operator is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment to load, unload, transport, and organize logs, lumber, chips, and other materials throughout the sawmill facility. This position plays a key role in supporting production flow, inventory management, and shipping operations while maintaining a strong focus on safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience operating loaders or other heavy equipment in an industrial, logging, sawmill, or manufacturing environment.

Major Responsibilities & Duties
  • Safely operate front-end loaders, wheel loaders, or other heavy equipment to move logs, lumber, wood chips, and production materials throughout the sawmill facility.
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, conveyors, and storage areas efficiently and safely.
  • Maintain a steady flow of raw materials to production areas to support operational demands.
  • Stack and organize materials in designated storage and yard locations.
  • Conduct daily pre-operational inspections of equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Monitor equipment performance and communicate repair needs to maintenance personnel.
  • Assist with inventory management and material tracking as needed.
  • Maintain safe work practices while operating equipment around employees, machinery, and production areas.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and lockout/tagout procedures.
