This position requires a strong understanding of machining principles, blueprint reading, precision measurement, and shop mathematics. The ideal candidate is beyond entry level and can work independently with minimal supervision, troubleshoot machining issues, maintain quality standards, and assist in training less experienced operators.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and specifications to determine machining requirements and tolerances.
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, cutting speeds, and feeds based on material and job requirements.
  • Machine components from various materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, plastics, and specialty alloys.
  • Perform turning, facing, boring, threading, drilling, tapping, reaming, milling, slotting, and keyway operations.
  • Inspect finished and in-process parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, thread gauges, and height gauges.
  • Maintain dimensional accuracy and ensure components meet quality and customer specifications.
  • Identify and troubleshoot machining, tooling, and dimensional issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform machine adjustments and routine preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.

  • Experience in operating manual lathes and mills.
  • Experience with prototype, repair, tool room, or low-volume production work.
  • Welding, fabrication, or CNC machining experience.
