Shift: Mid-Shift

Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 8:00PM-6:30AM (OT and weekends as required)

 Pay Rate: $29.75/hr.

Additional Compensation Benefits
Shift Differential: $0.50/hr. while working on 3rd shift.

Position Summary

To set up, adjust, repair and maintain various packaging machines, support equipment, system equipment, and perform facility repairs in a USDA/FDA production environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Must adhere to all food safety and personal safety requirements.
  • Applicable technical certification is preferred.
  • Electrical troubleshooting and repair skills are preferred.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills are preferred.
  • Food Manufacturing or packaging experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure “Safety First” is always practiced and observes and adheres to all job safety rules.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures including Machine Guarding, LOTO, IIPP, etc.
  • Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action. Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
  • Reviews production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, changes over equipment to new sizes or performs scheduled maintenance.
  • Put together preventive maintenance reports.
  • Tests equipment to check operation. Clears jams and sets aside product for inspection and rework. Tries out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime.
  • Examines, tests, and measures product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using gauges and instruments, and records data on appropriate forms. Checks product for visual defects.
  • Makes preventive maintenance check and inspection of assigned equipment, reports findings to supervisor and takes appropriate action.
  • Examines defects and analyzes spoilage causes and, where possible, takes corrective action. Analyzes and records cause of production delays on daily production report.
  • Assists line operators and packers and service personnel, such as lift truck operators as needed.
  • Notifies maintenance manager or supervisor and lead mechanic of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed.
  • Instructs and directs any maintenance trainees assigned.
  • Will conduct preventative maintenance as scheduled.
  • May operate equipment during relief periods.
  • Abide by ALL Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and SOPs.
  • Responsible for reporting Food Defense observations to Quality Teams.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Physical Requirements/ Environment

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time with extensive walking and working in refrigerated coolers (34F+).
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, twist, sit, climb stairs, and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Repetitive lifting, push, pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Normal vision, hearing sensitivity and manual dexterity is necessary.
  • Must be able to utilize P.I.T. equipment, such as forklift or other lifting devices, to be able to work at heights.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Ability to crawl under and climb onto machinery and equipment.
