Job description

We are excited to announce the addition of a 3rd shift machine operator position to our team. Candidates should apply if they want to be a part of a newly created operating team. You will have a position of high visibility and an opportunity to make an impact. All training will be done on 1st shift with experienced operators where you will have the opportunity to master your skills and ask questions before going to 3rd Shift. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and direct a small crew of assistants and material handlers
  • Set up jobs according to general specifications. Interpret blueprints and specs to ensure quality meets customer satisfaction.
  • Work directly with management and maintenance on roadblocks to success
  • Absorb plant direction and articulate a plan to meet the expectation
  • Maintain a positive, cooperative attitude toward customers, co-workers, subordinates and management. Support, encourage, and participate in quality improvement projects in order that department activities meet or exceed Customer and company quality, service, and performance needs and expectations.
  • Maintain a good attendance / punctuality record. Set the example for good attendance.
  • Always set an example to co-workers by practicing safe work habits. Assure Work Areas are free from hazards that could cause injury or accidents. Report any unsafe conditions to Plant Management
  • Perform on going quality checks to ensure product meets quality standards
  • Operate die cutting equipment in accordance with job orders and operating procedures.
  • Perform on-going preventative maintenance and keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Report issues with tooling to supervisor
  • Perform job within established standards. Meet or exceed established machine set-up/run rate goals
  • Perform other related duties as requested by Supervision / Management.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for 8-10 hours a day
  • Ability to work around moving, vibrating, rotating, and articulating parts of a machine all while exposed to noise.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds on a constant and/or frequent basis
  • Ability to stand, walk, ben, push, pull, reach on a constant and/or frequent basis

Job Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the corrugated industry operating rotary machines preferred
  • Ability to read a tape measure down to 1/16 of an inch
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprint and diagram basics. Must be able to interpret manufacturing specifications, understand and use shop math, use and interpret measuring instruments (tape measures, calipers, stopwatch, gauges, calculator, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize work tasks
  • Possess the ability to work all shifts and required overtime as needed. Typical requirements are up to 10-hour shifts and 6-hour Saturdays.
  • Ability to communicate well on all levels and good interpersonal skills required
  • Basic computer skills required
