Beasley Forest Products is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Planer Operator for our Dry Sorter Department in Hazlehurst, Georgia. This position is responsible for operating planer equipment and supporting the sorting, grading, and movement of lumber products throughout the production process. The ideal candidate will work efficiently in a fast-paced sawmill environment while maintaining quality standards and safe operating procedures.

As one of the largest hardwood sawmills in the United States, Beasley Forest Products produces a wide variety of hardwood lumber, mats, crossties, and industrial wood products for domestic and international markets.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate planer and dry sorter equipment safely and efficiently
  • Inspect lumber for quality, size, grade, and defects
  • Maintain consistent material flow through the planer line
  • Stack, sort, band, and organize lumber according to production specifications
  • Monitor equipment performance and report mechanical issues promptly
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance on machinery
  • Assist with changeovers, setup adjustments, and production support tasks
  • Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Crosstrain in other departmental positions as needed
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors and team members to meet production goals
