Job description

Job Summary

We’re looking for an EDM Machine Operator to set up, operate, and maintain Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment used to manufacture precision aerospace components. This role performs machining operations, verifies part quality, troubleshoots production issues, and supports continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Shift: 5th shift, Friday-Sunday 5:00p-5:00a

Shift Differential: $3.50/hr

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Set up and operate CNC EDM equipment and related machining systems.
  • Perform EDM machining operations in accordance with engineering specifications and work instructions.
  • Read and interpret operation sheets, routers, blueprints, and in-process documentation.
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring tools to verify compliance with quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoot minor setup, machining, and program-related issues.
  • Support Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) activities and perform routine equipment maintenance as required.
  • Follow Critical to Quality (CTQ) requirements and quality management procedures.
  • Support new program development, testing, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Perform manual machining operations as needed.
  • Maintain production standards, quality expectations, and accurate documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and ethical standards.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Machining, EDM setup, CNC operation, or program editing experience preferred.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and understanding technical work instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret operation sheets, work instructions, blueprints, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
  • Strong math, computer, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot setup and machining issues independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with wire EDM, sinker EDM, laser machining, or CNC machining centers.
  • Aerospace manufacturing or precision machining experience.
  • Experience with CNC programming and program editing.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, quality systems, TPM, or Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Manual machining experience.

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to machining equipment and industrial production activities.
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and machine operation throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment required.
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures.
